Meridy Capella
Owner / Seamstress
Meridy Capella is the owner of Evergreen Alterations, a woman-owned small business based in Bennington, Vermont, which she has successfully operated since 1998. Serving a diverse clientele that includes civilians, government agencies, and law enforcement throughout southern Vermont, Meridy has built a strong reputation as a trusted contractor for the U.S. Department of Defense, specializing in precision uniform alterations.

Beyond her work as a skilled seamstress and business owner, she has been sharing her passion for fiber arts since 2010. She began teaching beginner-level crochet, knitting, sewing, and felting, offering classes to a wide range of students—from elementary-aged children to adults. In 2016, she expanded into manufacturing and computerized embroidery, opening the door to new creative and professional opportunities.

Fiber arts, sewing, and hands-on creation are central to everything she does, both professionally and personally. She is deeply committed to craftsmanship, education, and community engagement, and looks forward to continuing to share her knowledge and passion for years to come.

In addition to her work in fiber arts, she also serves as Vice President of Doe Camp Nation since 2022, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to women’s outdoor education, and is passionate about helping women build confidence, skills, and enjoyment in supportive learning environments. Meridy has an extensive background in clay shooting sports and outdoor education. She was a competitive trap shooter and became a certified 4-H shotgun instructor in 2019. Since then, she has served annually as a shotgun instructor for 4H and the Women on Target program.
